Meet Fred!

Fred Duncan is a distinguished figure in the world of philanthropy and nonprofit leadership, known for his unwavering dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities. With a solid educational foundation, extensive experience, and a talent for mentoring and coaching, Fred's journey is marked by a commitment to the betterment of society. 

In June of 2023, Fred retired from his role as Director and CEO at Little Red Door Cancer Agency, a role he assumed in 2009 after serving as the Chief Development Officer for Newfields (formerly the Indianapolis Museum of Art) and as the Director of Development at the Indiana Repertory Theater.   

Fred holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Western Kentucky University, a Master of Arts in Philanthropic Studies from the IU School of Philanthropy and a Masters Certificate in Museum Studies from IU. 

Fred has had a remarkable career, serving in pivotal roles at prestigious cultural and philanthropic institutions. His strategic vision and leadership have left an indelible mark on these organizations. Fred's influence extends beyond his professional roles. He is a passionate and talented mentor, having worked closely with numerous nonprofit CEOs, guiding them towards achieving their organizational goals and personal growth. His role as a teacher and facilitator for the IU Fund Raising School has further solidified his reputation as an expert in the field. 

Currently, Fred is deeply involved in coaching and mentoring emerging nonprofit leaders through his venture, the Grateful Stoic. He is an advocate for Stoic Philosophy and the practice of gratitude as tools for personal and professional success. Fred's leadership and guidance continue to shape the next generation of leaders in the nonprofit sector. 

Outside of his professional endeavors, Fred enjoys a rich tapestry of personal interests, including fitness, cooking, sewing, and woodworking. His commitment to a healthy lifestyle through fitness reflects his holistic approach to personal growth and well-being.
